Watching “Independence Day” in the theater in 1996 on the Fourth of July when they destroyed the mother ship at the end.

Even though it wasn’t a great film, that was probably the greatest cinematic experience of my life.#MovieCheers

#DjandoUnchained when @kerrywashington and @iamjamiefoxx rode into the sunset. I admit I also cried a little. When do we ever get to see a Black woman so loved and protected? (Plus her pulling out the shotgun at the end brought another round of applause.) #MovieCheers

Not necessarily cheers, but I remember a grown man during a screening of The Simpsons Movie going “F*n WHAT?” super loud during the “to be continued… now” fakeout. #MovieCheers https://t.co/LSPLGSgvSK

Back to the Future, when Marty finally gets home. And this was in the UK where we don’t do cheering at films. #MovieCheers

Also in Attack of the Clones where Yoda draws his lightsaber.

Premiere of The Force Awakens had plenty of cheering throughout: the John Williams STAR WARS opening blast, when Han shows up et al. Biggest cheers were when Rey and Finn were running and Rey yells ‘that’s junk!’ and the camera eventually pans to the Falcon. Erupted! #MovieCheers

— Shiung Low (@ShiungSpace) September 20, 2021

The throne room scene in TLJ. Kylo/Ben killing Snoke to save Rey & then, back to back, fighting together. The audience erupted with cheers, wild applauding & many were on their feet, myself included. It was the first time in years and the last. #MovieCheers

I’m not sure if this counts as a cheer, at a preview screening for A Fish Called Wanda, people were literally falling out of their seats from laughing so hard. #MovieCheers

— Sara Hanson (@Fraerie) September 20, 2021

This scene.

I live in Ireland and we are among the most inactive cinema audiences in the world. We don’t tend to clap or cheer during big moments, but everyone went ballistic here.#MovieCheers pic.twitter.com/SohJtXNenr

With Cap/Mjolnir out the way:

1. Ben and Rey bring the sabers up in tandem (TROS)
2. Trinity leaps from the helicopter (Matrix)
3. Ethan’s “Yeah, that’s right. Prick.” (MI: Fallout)
4. Delorean rises up with Marty standing on the bonnet (BTTF2)

Yeah, I’m that old.#MovieCheers https://t.co/y2ZXSk5vUH

The original Star Wars (Ep. IV) when it premiered. There were cheers and applause throughout but the moment I remember was Luke and Leia swinging over the trench. At that point, I’d never seen anything like it in a theater (I was 7).#MovieCheers

I normally avoid crowds, so even big stuff in the MCU, Star Wars, or LotR have had muted responses.

But I went to a sold out show of the last Twilight movie with friends. And let me tell you, when Jane bought it in the ‘fight,’ there were huge cheers from EVERYBODY #MovieCheers
